Tracey Monk had a day out fishing off the south coast of Sussex, He caught some nice Plaice up to 3lb and a cracking Brill just under 10lb. It was caught on a mussel bed while drifting baits across. This is the biggest Brill caught aboard Ocean Warrior 3, so far.
It has been a great year for flatfish this year – here’s hoping that next year is as good or better!

Ocean Warrior 3 is based on the South Coast and is moored in Newhaven Marina, near Brighton. It is about an hours drive away from London. You can experience a day of offshore wreck fishing or an easier days fishing inshore. We fish daily for Cod, Pollack and those big Conger. You can also see what we catch on our video page on www.oceanwarrior3.com or you can also find us on youtube. We cater for individuals, part/full boat bookings and even stag do’s. We can supply rod/reel and tackle for the less experienced angler. We also have a crew member to help and give advice while you fish. Tea and coffee are also provided on the boat and there is also a cafe in the Marina if you fancy a breakfast before you go.
Rab with a nice double figured Pollack, caught aboard Newhavens Ocean Warrior 3 off the sussex coast.
We were fishing offshore and drifting over a wreck using the gilling method, with a sidewinder lure. This sort of wreck fishing will start in the middle of January when we start running offshore to find the spratts over the wrecks. They are then followed by the Cod and Pollack feeding off them.
If you fancy booking up a days wreck fishing from mid January call Dave on 07966 377145. Check out my latest news page on www.oceanwarrior3.com.Google+
The winds are starting to kick up tonight, blowing 56mph at the Greenwich (southerly). The worst direction for Ocean Warrior 3 as it is blowing straight down the entrance.
The wave monitor outside the arm is already reaching 5.3m – its a big sea. Here we go again – the winter gales have arrived, here’s hoping it dies down for the weekend!!!
Newhaven Marina’s Ocean Warrior 3 will be staying in the water all though the Christmas holidays this year.
If you fancy a days Cod fishing, or if you fancy taking someone fishing to catch a big Christmas Cod – we are open for business. We will be fishing off the sussex coast out of Newhaven Marina over the Christmas and New Year period.
So, if you want to come for a day out to catch a big Cod, we also have rod/reels and end tackle if needed – just turn up and fish….. All types of anglers are welcome and we also provide tuition for those who haven’t fished before. Newhaven Marina also provides a cafe and a tackle shop near the boat.

We are still catching some nice Cod on the inshore ground marks off the sussex coast out of Newhaven. This week we have been catching the Cod on smaller baits with worm and squid. The big baits of cuttle haven’t seemed to have been working this week. There are also lots of Whiting around, they seem to have got much bigger this week and have them to over 2lb, which are a nice eating size. The weather has been a bit kinder to us this week, but still waiting for it to get colder to hopefully see the bigger Cod showing once the temperature drops.
It won’t be long before we are back on the offshore wrecks of Sussex out of Newhaven to catch the bigger Cod and Pollack on the drift with lures.
We still have some spaces left for this year and are taking bookings for 2013, so if you fancy a trip contact Dave on 07966 377145.Google+
A nice story from Chris Hill, who fancied a days fishing off the sussex coast out of Newhaven Marina. It was his stag party and he brought his friends and family along to share in the experience, as his ambition was to catch a Conger eel! The party were pretty green to fishing and all hired rods for the day. Chris’ first eel was a staggering 90lb!! HIs friends and family had eels to 60lb on the day. The story of the big catch went down well at the wedding speeches so I was told. Cracking Conger for his first time sea fishing off the sussex coast.
Ocean Warrior 3 specialises in fishing the wrecks off the sussex coast at anchor for the large Conger and Cod. This type of fishing is best between May through to August/September.

Dave Roberts with a big Newhaven winter Cod. It was caught while fishing with a whole cuttle bait.
There are still some good decent sized Whiting around the coasts of Newhaven. We normally find that during this month the Cod start to get bigger on the ground. We also find that luggworm and squid are also good baits for catching Cod at this time of year.
The weather is looking good this week (for a change) and we have still got some spaces available this week for trips out of Newhaven. If you fancy catching a nice winter Cod give Dave a call on 07966 377145.Google+
It won’t be long before we are back out on the deep water wrecks off of Newhaven. It starts the middle of January, through February and into March with the big Cod and Pollack running.
This was our biggest one earlier this year, caught using a sidewinder lure while gilling over a deep water wreck off of Newhaven.
If you fancy a days fishing for big Cod and Pollack, we are now taking bookings for next year so give Dave a call on 07966 377145 or refer to our calendar on www.oceanwarrior3.comGoogle+
Steve Shoreland’s crew came to try out sussex sea fishing aboard Newhavens Ocean Warrior 3. They caught this Cod of 13lb 9oz using a cuttlefish bait. It was his first time sea fishing and had hired a rod and reel to catch this good fish. They had 9 Cod on the day with plenty of Whiting. Good enjoyable day all round.
Have a couple of spaces available this Friday – if anyone fancies a days Cod fishing call Dave on 07966 377145.Google+
