Sussex Sea Fishing Trips

Ocean Warrior 3 specialises in Sussex sea fishing trips off the south coast.  During some of our Sussex sea fishing trips, we enjoy targeting the Conger eels on the wrecks off Newhaven. Ocean Warrior 3 is based in Newhaven Marina on the South Coast.

Don and Andy Matthews had booked up 2 Sussex sea fishing trips.  They wanted to fish for Conger on these trips, so we concentrated on the offshore wrecks. The biggest Conger eel over the 2 days was caught by Andy and weighed in at 83lb 6oz. This is Ocean Warrior 3’s biggest eel this year, so far… (although, it is not Andy’s biggest, as he had 103lb Conger eel on our previous boat Ocean Warrior 2 in 2003!)

During their Sussex sea fishing trip, Mick Cox had the next biggest Conger eel of 65lb, which is the biggest Conger eel Mick has ever caught. The Conger eels were caught using Mackerel flappers and cuttlefish baits, using a 300lb monotrace and 8/0 hooks.

Andy and Don had a couple of nice eels up at the same time on one of the days during their Sussex sea fishing trips and both eels were over 50lb. During their 2 days of Sussex sea fishing trips, they caught 100 eels up to 83lb. They had a great couple of days and it was great sport fishing. All Congers were returned alive so that other Conger anglers can also have some good sport during their own Sussex sea fishing trips and it helps to promote the conservation of the Conger eels in the waters off the South Coast. The Conger eels can only get bigger by putting them back and it is always better for the future of Conger eel fishing.

We also caught some nice Black Bream to 4lb and also a few Cod on the Cuttlefish along with a good sized Ling on a Mackerel flapper.

We are now taking bookings for 2015, so if you are looking to book up a Sussex sea fishing trip, call David Elliott on 07966 377145 to make sure you get the perfect tide to fish for these Conger eels.

Ocean Warrior 3 biggest Coalfish

This year’s fishing has had a very slow start.  However, now that the weather has calmed down a bit and spring is around the corner we have managed to get out to the deep water wrecks.

There are some good sized Pollock showing on the offshore wrecks, but, Tabish had this 16lb Coalfish!  It was a great catch for Tabish, and it was caught using a sidewinder lure and it gave him a good fight on light tackle.  This is Ocean Warrior 3′s biggest ever Coalfish, so Tabish has now got the boat record!

We are looking forward to getting back out to those deep water wrecks for some more great fishing.  If you fancy coming out on one of our trips, check out our calendar for available dates or give David Elliott a call on 07966 377145 or visit our main website at www.oceanwarrior3.com

Mid channel wreck fishing off Newhaven has been producing some big Pollack and Cod out on the deep mid channel wreck fishing trips aboard Newhavens Ocean Warrior 3.

Here is ‘Basher’ with  afine Pollack that he caught while out on a mid channel wreck fishing trip.  Basher caught the Pollack using  a sidewinder lure by using the ‘gilling’ technique while drifting over a World War wreck off the south coast.

Mid channel wreck fishing is at its best through the months of January to March.  This is when the big Cod and Pollack run through the English Channel.

So if you are looking for a mid channel wreck fishing trip off the south coast of Newhaven, give the skipper, David Elliott a call on 07966 377145.

We cater for individuals or part/full boat bookings for up to 10 people.  We also have rod/reel hire available along with tackle and tuition to help if you haven’t been out on a mid channel wreck fishing trip before.  Newhaven Marina also has free parking, a local convenience shop and a cafe if you fancy breakfast before you go out fishing.

English Channel Cod Fishing

Mick Cox caught a nice Cod of 27lb, while fishing out of Newhaven Marina off the South Coast of Sussex.  He was fishing aboard the charter boat Ocean Warrior 3.  Mick caught this big Cod while at anchor to a mid-channel wreck which was torpedoed and sank in the secord world war.  This wreck holds some really big Cod at certain times of the year and we fish it at anchor using cuttlefish as bait.  There are hundreds of wrecks that we fish throughout the English Channel.  If you fancy a days Cod fishing on Ocean Warrior 3 give Dave a call on 07966 377145.
